'Rock on America'- This months most epic blog post
No, this is not going to be a post about me going to some awesome rock show or even about discovering a new band that 'rocks my world'. Instead, this update is quite the opposite. It is about the events that occurred yesterday. Or in other words, the longest three hours of my god forsaken life. Now let me not get ahead of myself while telling this story..
Lets start from the beginning. About two days ago I was asked if I wanted to go to a pig roast Memorial Day picnic that was going to be held at a community center hosted by Bobby Jo's uncle. For those of you who are not familiar with Bobby Jo the only thing that's important to know is that she's as country as her name sounds and is dating Marcus's dad. Getting back to the story..and as you know we of course agreed to go. To set the day off on the right foot we got to do something that wasn't planned nor expected. Picking up Marcus's sister. Usually this proves to be quite a task because she is indeed a clone of her mother. Arrogant and bitchy. However, with that said, due to recent events (all of which is a story for another time and place to tell) she was extremely quiet so the only bullshit I had to listen to, put up with, and entertain was from Marcus's, ever so pleasant, mother. After picking Steph up it was just one awkward silent hour in the car until we reached Steve (Marcus's dad's house). Upon arrival we unloaded the car, snacked on some cookies, admired Steve's new hanging plants, got directions and then were on our way.
On our way there. So incase you didn't know there is absolutely NOTHING up here. And when you are around Steve's house there is even more of NOTHING. And when I say nothing I mean that there are more cows than people and houses. Very nice if you want to get out of the city, are retired, or if your occupation is listed as farmer. When it comes to trying to find someone or some place to ask for directions, however, you won't. With that said, after being sent on a detour because of a bad accident and taking turns and roads as seen appropriate we finally found a house with some people sitting out front drinking beer and just looking questionable to ask directions from. After asking we were anything but pleasantly surprised to find that we had indeed reached our destination.
We're finally here..? So there we were. Let me set the scene..actually nevermind. I have been told that a picture is worth a million words so let them do the talking. To set the record straight from the beginning, no, I did not have permission to take any of these pictures. With that said the reason I took the pictures is because I feel that it wouldn't matter how I choose to describe what and where I was yesterday. The reason?? Well see for yourself..
Three. Longest. Hours. Ever.
The setting and food. The 4th annual pig roast that had no pig, just poorly pulled pork and Bud Light on tap. This event took place behind a trailer with only patches of grass under a medium sized blue and white striped tent. Of course there were also deep friend onion rings made in a plastic 50 gallon drum. I'm still not really sure how they pulled that off. Banana cream pie was the only selection when it came to choices of what to have for dessert, and it was made with real vanilla wafers. All in all it was only safe to eat the pasta salad but not the cheese that was mixed in. There was a trailer of a tractor trailer making the perimeter of the North side of the lawn with what looked to be a set of permanent wood stairs leading up into into it. What do they keep in there I wonder? All their dead bodies? Campers and tents were randomly placed around the remaining space in the yard. A chicken coupe was placed in the back right hand side of the yard that were seen as much of a main attraction during the picnic as the game of horse shoes happening just opposite of it as well as the band.
Hey!! Check out that chicken coupe!! There are real chickens in there!!
Dress Code. There was a couple wearing matching 'Rock on America' shirts and blue star bandanas. The wife of this couple had only 4 top teeth. Come to think of it no one had a full set of teeth.. Of course what would be a memorial day picnic without the men coming dressed in their finest muscle shirt to show off their side moobs? There of course was a drunken family member that was avoided like the plague by the other family members, would randomly get up and start dancing in front of the band, and would say something that came out as nothing but slurs and jumbled noise and finally had the best of the worst laughs ever. I can think of nothing else to compare it to than the woody the wood pecker laugh. Yup, it was that awesomely bad. Every chick there was wearing cut off shorts with a cigarette pack shoved in the back pocket as well as having extremely bad bleach blond hair with accompanying equally as awful perm. My favorite outfit of the day involved a Hawaiian shirt and camo hat that was donned by a man who actually yelled at the band because he felt that they weren't playing anything good or anything that was requested. And to finish this segment and put to rest your last unanswered question yes, there was A LOT of plumbers crack. Crack kills ladies and gentleman.
The band. There was a 4 man band playing classic rock only WZZO (a classi
c rock station in the Pocono's that NO ONE listens to) would play. The band member that supplied us with the invitation to this interensting picnic greeted us wearing a manatee shirt, sunglasses and a newspaper boy hat. Another band member was wearing a shirt that read 'Music is my life' in what I think of as groovy lettering that came out of the 70's. And finally, the last band member was actually the husband of the couple that I told you about earlier who were wearing the matching 'Rock on America' T-shirts. This member was by far my favorite. Of course what would be a live music experience without the crowd yelling out to the band 'More cow bell!!' and 'Git-R-Done!!' after completing, what the crowd considered, a particularly good song.
Band member wearing 'Music Is my Life Shirt'. Groovy shades man!!
Sorry for such a long post but I hope it was at least entertaining to read. And with that I leave you with this note I found on the bathroom door:
P.S- Enjoy the rest of your Memorial Day weekend!! I know I am with the help of a TopGear marathon!! :-)

Caveat Emptor
Take the title as a piece of advice when it comes to purchasing spray on sunscreen. This convenient and amusing version/ method of applying the suns defense has let me down. And now I am spreading the word. When using this sunscreen be careful that you are holding it right NEXT to your skin. If you don't then it's not on you. When you do apply it RUB it in! Otherwise you may come home from the beach looking like a patch work quilt of ghostly white skin and sunburn lobster red. Please, trust me on this. Further, when applying sunscreen make sure that you are also applying to both the tops of your feet as well the tops of your hands. If you don't then you will surely experience excruciating pain when putting your flip-flops on. So, my faithful reading audience, I leave you with this. Unless you are a TSS who has a client with Autism that you would use spray on sunscreen for positive reinforcement, save your money. This is one time that doing it the 'old fashioned way' is better. A.K.A- This just proves that aerosol sunscreen is not idiot proof.

With that said, Mur and I went to the beach yesterday!!! It was good fun and of course I took pictures so that I could share our good time with you. This, however, will not be the last time I go to the beach this summer. No, instead this is what I like to refer to as a 'wa
rm up' to Crystal's birthday beach extravaganza!! My terrible tan lines have been corrected only to have formed new and improved one yesterday. And of course I was not alone in this, I guess Mur wanted some of his own so now he too has funky uneven tan lines. Awesome!! Anyway, without further adiue, here are some photos!! :-)

Mr. Mur checking out the water!!
Who doesn't draw in the sand should be the real question at hand.
Now going back to Crystal's weekend extravaganza. So Mur is going away for a week for a training, as I have put in a previous post. And as many of you know, I have yet to start working. I did FINALLY get a job as a CNA however I'm not going to start until the 20th. As result, I will be coming home the week of the 5th after I drop Marcus at the airport in Buffalo. Hopefully this will allow me plenty of time to get my hair cut and colored as well as to finish getting ready for the weekend while also catching up with some friends who are greatly missed in the Poconos!! I'm so excited!! I went shopping today and got some cute dresses and a new pair of shorts so I'm all ready!! Now, what am I going to wear when I go out? I think this is going to call for some more shopping.. :-)
Well that's all for now. T-T-F-N!!

'Haha!! A Monkey licking a penis is funny in any language!! Haha!!'-Alan
So today we went to see the Hangover 2. Exactly the same as the first. Humor, however, was added through the use of a smoking monkey and there is a hooker with huge knockers as well as a penis involved. I won't spoil anything else. Anyway, while we were at the movies quite a storm hit Elmira. Of course we went for a walk to take pictures of the damage because we're weird like that.
This tree was literally blown out of the ground!! And in front of my favorite house on the street :-( Luckily it JUST missed the house, thank goodness!!
Totally yanked out of the ground. Werd and scarey!! :-(
In other news I FINALLY hung my awesome rocker poster in my room that I got for Christmas 4 years ago. Looks awesome!! Thanks again Uncle Chuck, I love it!! :-)
That's all for now. End transmission.

A picture is..
No, I'm not dead.
This is pretty much what I have been doing since moving back up to Elmira at the end of March. Laying around/texting/ taking pictures. This particular picture was taken by Mur while I was texting Adam about what to do with this vase. See picture below.
Anyway, crisis averted. Ideas have been shared and a solution has presented itself. The vase will be filled after my first paycheck is deposited.
This is Brody Lee!! He melts my heart and is filled with smiles. Just so long as he has his truck!! :-)
About two days ago I received a text message followed by a phone call from my little sister about wine glasses. After being told that Marcus and I should move closer to ease our being able to shop together I explained what the best type of wine glass to get as per what wine she was drinking and where to go to get them at a fair cost. She of course went to Target, who wouldn't?! Love that store!! An anyway, these are her glasses. Not bad for someone who knows nothing of wine or what you should drink it out of for that matter. I do have one thing to say though. Good choice Lauryn, but those are the glasses you are suppose to use when you're drinking white. But none the less, nice glasses!!
Of course she sent me a picture of the wine that she was drinking. Resulting from the consumption of this wine I had the following conversation with Lauryn via text message:
Me: Now, why are you drinking wine?
Me: Red wine that is?
Lauryn: Because I want to and its delicious.
Lauryn: Omg are there rules to drinking wine?
Lauryn: I'm too new at this.
Lauryn: Damnit
Me: No, there aren't rules lol
I read that and BURST out laughing. Sorry Lauryn!! And trust me, there are NO rules about drinking wine. I have spent several nights, both in and out of college, drinking wine from the following: solo cups (in assorted colors), measuring cups, from other peoples cups and straight out of the bottle. So, again, no you did not break any rules and as far as I'm concerned Dionysus will continue to treat you well as long as you wish him to.
Porcupines. The silent killers of Subaru Legacy's between 2 and 3 in the morning. They are sneaky little devils who will leave remnants of their run in they had with you stuck on the under side of your car while cracking your bumper and bending your radiator supports.
This is example 1A. Look toward the right side.
Ta Da!! This is our much talked about porch!! Marcus finally got done hanging the lights around the top (look just above the hanging plants) as well as our Penn State flag!! :-) It looks wonderful and I enjoy sitting out on our fabulous patio furniture even more at night by the glow of the awesome string lights. I'll let you guess where I bought them.. The following pictures give a brief up close and personal glimpse to my outside oasis.
Snap dragons. My favorite!! <3
Sun!!
Hanging plants <3
Come, sit, talk and lets share some wine or the all too familiar Mojito while we grill!! :-)
So last night we had the neighbors over for dinner. What would be a better time then right after the lights are hung? Anyway, we had grilled bbq chicken and a lovely salad. Of course what would be grilling and hanging out with some new people without throwing back a couple. Throwing back a couple would later result in a Wii bowling tournament which resulted in throwing back more than a couple. So a full Mojito bottle, and half a rum bottle later I totally lost the Wii bowling, came up with a new word and started yelling with a German accent from my bedroom all while texting/ falling asleep. The new word? Well that would be 'fartification'. I believe that I was trying to say falsification or farce with -ification added to the end. Anyway, from what I remember of last night it was good. Lots of laughing. Moving on..
So of course I wake up with a hangover today. Ouch!! But anyway, I woke up to find road cones behind both Marcus's and my car this morning. Clearly a prank pulled by Vic thinking he's funny. Well haha Vic while I was nursing a hangover I didn't feel bad that you were out mowing the lawn. :-P
P.S- I did my best to save your parking spot for you. Thanks again for the road cones, couldn't have saved your spot without them!!
Love,
K

Music
Did you ever have one of those days where you have that one song stuck in your head and before you know it both you and your significant other are walking around while singing it together? That was today. The song: Brittany Spears 'Dance Til The World Ends'. That's right. Not only am I listening to Brittany but I have her song stuck in my head. And even further, while singing it ALL DAMN DAY I gleefully dance around my apartment. Black Eyed Peas were my gateway drug and there is no turning back.
Todays Playlist:
1. Dance Til the World Ends
2. Sweet Caroline
3. Get On the Floor
4. Katy Perry's ET
5. Hey There Vagina <-- That's right. YouTube it. You won't be sorry.
and of course
6. Just Can't Get Enough
Rock on fellow (insert witty blog reader reference name here).
P.S- Don't forget the end of the world is on Saturday. May 20, 2011. I for one cannot wait for it, specifically for the 'Post Rapture Looting'. <-- Facebook it. I could use a couch that isn't a futon.

Meet Velveeta
We have acquired a pet. His name is Velveeta and he's fluffy and brown. Oh, and did I mention? Velveeta is a squirrel. He lives in the roof and during the day he stakes watch while sitting on the sill of our left kitchen window. Velveeta is a friendly squirrel who has taken a liking to both Marcus and I as well as our Romaine lettuce plants. Marcus wants to support our new 'pet' by feeding him and so far the only thing stopping him is me. That's right. No, you may not support the rodent that is living in the eves of our roof. In other pet related news, I'm still working on warming him up to getting me either a puppy, kitty, another guinea and if all else fails a Nintendo Wii.
Today was a busy day. A road excursion to Wellsboro gifted Mur with the long awaited gun permit so that he can carry in PA as well as a visit to a body mechanic to get a quote and a check to have his car fixed from a deadly run in with a porcupine. That's right you read that correctly. A porcupine. The quills are still stuck on the under carriage of his car. Pretty awesome and unbelievable to see but not for Mur who wants the newness of his car to last longer than what it already has.
In other news, we stopped to say hello to Steve (Marcus's dad) today. Always nice to see and say hello to him. He's such a sweetie! Anyway, during our visit at his shop we got talking about the whole daughter situation. That was fun. Then I was told to 'settle down' because I was yelling at Mur. Well, get off your duff and take on your fatherly duties. The end.
Anyway, I gotta finish an application before we watch a movie.

How old am I again?
At 24 I feel like I'm 42. I can't describe where I am in life any other way than in a funk. But then again I guess that makes sense after sitting home alone for 10 hours a day. This past week and even now I really wanna go home. Every time I get this thought, though, I follow it by asking myself what is so exciting there that isn't here. After I remember there really isn't anything I quickly decide that sitting on my couch, for yet another day, is the better choice than wasting gas and money. Honestly, pictures and the occasional sun shine are the only things saving me. Quickly losing interest in things and motivation to do anything other than sleep and eat. Tomorrow is Marcus's last day of work for a week, that will be nice.
New hobby: Eating. Boredom eating never tasted so good. Now only if I didn't feel so fat afterward.
I want to go back to school so I can make more money. But even more so I want to go back to school so I can have a graduation like everyone else did. By having their family there celebrating and hugging and kissing you and million times and taking pictures with them at every landmark that has some sort of importance at my university. One day.
I want to go for a walk that isn't in a city, sit beside a stream that isn't crowded with other people and soak in the sun. The only thing that would make that better was if I had a good book and a glass of wine to accompany me. Alas, to dream.
In other news, Marcus is being sent on a training for a week in Minnesota. This isn't happening for another 3 weeks or so but he has come up with the idea that I am somehow going to go with him? How is this going to happen I have no idea since it doesn't really fit into our current financial situation but hey, it's his idea. Go with it.
I have successfully turned our porch into a tropical oasis. Complete with palms, herbs and hanging plants. It's the perfect place to escape the confines of the apartment as well as to entertain guests. Further more it's a great place to get a tan. Don't take any tips from me however or you'll end up with a farmers tan but only on one arm and get sun burn on the front and bottom half of your one leg.
Currently looking for book suggestions. Music suggestions are also welcome. Sometimes I wish there was a website like Pandora for books. That would be cool and convenient.
The discovery of a wine festival that is in July has brightened the prospect of summer. It's the weekend of the 15-17th. Anyone interested is welcome to join and since it's only 15 minutes from where I live you are welcome to stay over.
Those are about all the updates that I have for now. Thanks for stopping by!!

Pantomime and Wire Kung Fu
It's hard to fully appreciate having friends and family around until they aren't within close proximity to you anymore. This is hard to understand for some because currently or up until recently they have been surrounded by named people above and therefore cannot think of a better place to be than as far away from them as humanly possible. Because of this I say, give it time. There will be a moment in the not to distant future that you wish that person who you just got done saying 'annoys the crap out of me' will be longed for a missed. Maybe you'll cry. Maybe you won't. Maybe you get in contact with them. Maybe you won't. But either way, the point is made that this person that was once labeled 'annoying' is very much wanted by the same person doing the labeling.
This statement has been brought about because of a thought and a sort of epiphany that I had yesterday while running into and spending time with Marcus's and my new neighbors. After running a few errands and coming home to what I thought would be another day in an empty house I find Victor and someone new in our driveway. Dabbling on his truck and greeting me a smile and a 'how are you?' I find that the someone new is Victor's friend and new roommate that he was telling Marcus and I about during a previous conversation. Anyway, the new roommates name is Chad. However, throughout the duration of the afternoon I am calling him David because I someone forget his name in the 3 seconds I meet him and to me he looks like a David. Because of this his nickname is now David Chad. Voila! Getting back to the story, the afternoon was spent with the two chatting and being regailed with stories from their high school years while I fed them brownies. During the conversation Victor and David Chad mowed the front yard in exchange of doing a load of laundry in our awesome washing machine. They also took me on a tour of their apartment which included the attic which was unexpected. The attic, itself, held some pretty magnificent treasures. For example we found a ping pong table, a bunch of Kingdom Hearts posters, a Marilyn Monroe poster and a dryer. Beyond that there was just a bunch of garbage and some old mattresses and bed frames. Upon discovering these unique finds a conjoined decision was made to talk with our land lord about cleaning out the attic and then turning it into a club house for the 4 of us. And the name, because of course every great club house has a name, would be Club Monroe. Either that or Club Marilyn. The name is still up for debate but either way it's going to be spectacular. After all was explored we went back down to Victor and David Chad's apartment got some adult beverages chatted a spell longer and then went outside to drink and throw a frisbee.
While outside we chatted some more, put the lawn mower away and Marcus came home. A while later, but still outside, a firetruck and ambulance pulled up in front of us to pay our next door neighbor a visit. Why? We still don't know because they went in the house but didn't come out with anyone and then left as if nothing happened. While all of this was going on our favorite house neighbor (ie: drunken crazy southerner) came out to pay us a visit. Now keep in mind that when I say he payed us a visit I mean he drunkenly stumbled over to the group of the 4 of us asking us for our phones. At this point you might again be finding yourself asking why? Well luckily I have a reason! It's because a. he's drunk, again; b. he is locked out, again; and finally c. because his son (who we all know) is the only one with a key. This is not the first, second or third time this has happened so we all have his son's number saved in our phones and as a group effort we each take turns calling Rick (who is his son) to see where he is until he finally shows up to claim his locked out and drunken father.
So that was my yesterday. Just when you think it's going to be yet another boring day in the life of paradise, our lovely neighbor comes over to mix things up.
Anyway, getting back to the point of this blog entry. Before all the going-ons of yesterday happened I was sitting on our lovely porch lonely for company and some good conversation. I miss coffee, drives, barnes and noble, the 'treehouse' and sharing similar memories and new and old stories with a good friend.
Beyond that, today I had a job interview for a nursing assistant position in Wellsboro. It's a hour away, the drive isn't to to bad but it's still a long ways away. Especially with gas prices as high as and unrelenting as they are. Of course the interview sounded like it went well but so did the last. I'm not holding my breath. More applications and resumes have been sent out today but for now I am going to take a break from the endless job search and what you may think is an endless blog post and am going to water my plants.
Thanks again for reading and sorry again for the long post.
While I was blogging I had some reoccurring thought processes I just had to get down. Tid-bits if you will. Either way, I had to put them down because each inspires an exhaustingly long thought process that I want to get to but not today. Anyway, here they are.
+I still do the best thinking while driving.
+Good is small doses.
+Revelation: This world is nothing more than a giant bullshitting contest. And whoever is the best without being written off as rambling and/ or crazy wins.
+A million motorcycles and I'm not riding one of them.
+Music really is the best cure.
+Geometric tan lines. er, burn lines.
Blunt and Abrasive
and Piss and Vinegar. My personality summed up in a perfect blunt and, well, abrasive way.
Awesome.
Awesome.

6am Coffee
There is a certain sense of clarity gained at 6 in the morning. The majority of the world is still sleeping or they starting to press the snooze button to gain that '5 more minutes' of sleep. I, however, am wide awake watching BBC World News for the latest updates on Osama and the supposed drop in price per barrel for crude oil. It is now, while sipping coffee out of my favorite red mugs, that I gain a sense of motivation and extreme self awareness. Why you may ask? Well to be honest with you I really don't know. Again, I believe it goes back to that sense of clarity that one can only reach at 6am. Everyone, for the most part, is sleeping. There is no incessant gabbering going on around you, no horns honking or the neighbors booming music. A sense of peace has been realized through this welcomed silence and feeling of calm. For this, I am grateful.
Now to the point.
This morning I have come up with a list of things I want to change and am going to start working on today. Some of these things I have already been doing, like looking for a job, but now I want to change my perspective by completing these tasks conscientiously and with a more positive attitude/outlook.
1. Send out at least 2 resumes a day.
2. Seriously look at grad schools.
3. Get certified as a nursing assistant.
4. Find a volunteer opportunity. (Planned Parenthood)
5. Put more of an effort in staying in contact with friends.
6. Only watch TV for the news.
7. Listen to more music.-Discover some new music.
8. Finish reading all the books I started. (Currently have 3)
9. Blog at least twice a week.
10. Maturing verbal communication. (Quit swearing)
11. Study religion and culture. (Through friends and reading)

Those are the biggest tasks at hand and there is no time like the present.
Cheerio for now chaps.

Philly, Friends, and Food
How do you summarize the nothing and everything that has happened during the past 3 weeks?? Let's start here..
I had the opportunity to hang out with Tiff, Crystal, Tess and Dee (a.k.a- The Foxy 5) last weekend in Philadelphia. It was held to celebrate Tess's 24th birthday as well as served as a much needed 'girls weekend' for all involved. Late night talks, boys, drinks, dinner, and Paranormal State saturated the weekend and created some laughs, bonding and some great memories. This weekend definitely reminded us that when the world seems the darkest your closest girlfriends will always be there to lend an ear to listen and a shoulder for support. I don't believe anything else needs to be said other than I <3 you girls!!
After living as a college alumni for going on 2 years I almost forgot what it was like having a neighbor who was my age. As you may recall from one of my previous blog posts we have a new neighbor. His name is Vick and is nice, however, he BLASTS his music which can be easily heard through Marcus' and my ceiling. Though I have not spoken to him about his music's volume, because it can only be heard in the livingroom and not the bedroom so therefore doesn't bother me to talk to him, I can tell you his taste in music including what his favorite genre is.
About 2 weekends ago it was Easter. Of course you know what that means, the impossible coordination of schedules so the family can sit down to one meal together. I say that this is an impossible task because it involves looking at and coordinating around work schedules, other families (ie: Weavers and Hennets) and putting family feuds on the back burner. Of course this is near impossible and on resurrection Jesus day it proved to be nothing but impossible. The end result was Jennelle, Sean, Sonya, Adam and I. Lauryn, Jeff and Brody were not able to make it because Lauryn had the stomach flu. Marcus was spending Easter with his two brothers that he doesn't get to see very often. And finally, Samara and Theo were not able to make it because they had to catch a bus back to the city before it got to late so they left well before it was even time to eat. Dinner was around 6 and was a success as usual with mom-mom's ham as the usual center piece. Afterward, people, and when I say people I mean Jennelle and Sean, got their left overs and went on their way home. Adam went home as soon as the meal was over to go home and check on his mom. And finally, after I finished clearing the table and packing up my stuff I was on my way home as well.
I spent the majority of Easter weekend at Tiff's house which was a lot of fun though. I was able to catch up with Crystal while I was there and the 3 of us went out to the Lounge to have a couple drinks. That was on Friday night. On Saturday night Tiff and I went out to Sarah St. where we met up with one of our Wilkes-Barre College Friends named Andrew. We haven't seen that kid in almost 2 years which is a cray long time but it didn't take long to get back in the groove of our old antics. It ended up being a great night with drinks, reminiscing on old stories and too much smoking. But of course, what and where would a great weekend of friends be without bathroom bawling, confessions and someone being taken out and falling to the ground that would result in a mysterious bruise on your body that everybody but you remembers. Good news though, the bruise on my knee is finally healing. Bad news, I still can't put any pressure on my left knee.
Friday night, was good fun with the family. Jennelle, Sean, Sonya, Samara, Theo, Aunt Susie, Uncle Chuck, Mom-mom and I all spent time dying Easter eggs, eating pizza and drinking wine. Because my family always has to take things over the top some of the Easter eggs ended up with eyes, mohawks, trim, and lace hats. That's right, you read correct. I will post some pictures for your further entertainment.
That's all the antics I have for now.
