At last!! After 4 months of unemployment I had my first day of work. Given that it's for a job that I don't need my 4 year degree to be hired as well as a job that will be the ultimate demise for my already bad back, but hey, I'm getting paid again!!!!! For this reason, and only this reason, I found the willpower to wake at 4:15 this morning so as to leave at 5 to arrive on time at 6. Oy vey, it was a long morning.
With a cup of coffee in my hand, a twice baked potato in my purse and a bottle of seltzer I was off! Cruising at the swift speed of 75 in grandpa Subaru while rocking out to some Foo Fighters I finally arrived in Wellsboro. Wasting no time, once inside, I was brought up to listen to report and be partnered with a woman named Debbie who would be my key to the Green Home. At this point let me just say that Debbie is no joke. That woman had me running up and down the North and South wing to help in her giving care to our various residents while also picking up a few extra residents due to a CNA 'no showing'. (I later found out that this particular person was a regular when it came to both calling out and failing to show up when scheduled). While running the North/South marathon I did not even have time to count the number of people we were caring for. Around 1:15, while charting, it was brought to my attention that our final resident count that we took care of was 17. No wonder I was sweating to the point that my bangs were sticking to my head. On a separate note I was complimented several times on my brand new cute scrubs. Thank you to my very own 'queer eye from the straight guy'!
So what all did I do today?? Well since you asked..
-Bathed people
- Met people
- Dressed people
- Learned people's quirks
- Fed people
- Got covered in gravy
- Talked to people
- Soothed about 4 older women that were crying (all for various reasons)
- Told the entire floor when and where the afternoon treats of root beer floats were going to take place.
- Assisted in breaking up a fight between two women
- Charted, charted and charted
- Went to DD and got an ice coffee and a doughnut
So that was pretty much my entire day. Hectic at times but glad that I'm home now. I was surprised by Mur's semi-planned treat to get Chinese!! Totally gorged myself followed by passing out not even 5 minutes after I was finished eating. Luckily I woke up in time to share an ice cream soda. :-)
So, all in all the general consensus of today is..**drum roll please**..I need to go to Grad school. Which means..**dum*dum*dum**..studying and taking the GRE's.
This weekend.
A big move is in the midst. Aunt Susie is doing some cleaning up and out and Lauryn, Jeff, and Brody are moving on up and in. Originally, due to circumstances beyond my control, I was not going to move in. However, due to a wonderful boyfriend I will now be able come home. Tomorrow. When I'm done with work. So, tomorrow I will attend day 2 of work and then venture home to start/ continue the cleaning with the fam.
Well until tomorrow..before Lauryn jumps through my phone and puts me in a choke hold due to my slow process of posting.
Sorry Lauryn!! Hope you enjoyed reading the 2 most recent!! :-)
